Whether you’re a beginner or advance computer user, learn how to better use technology to achieve your mission here at the University nuhelot’įne thaiyots’į nistameyimâkanak Blue Quills. 

Our Information Technology Certificate Program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience of computer systems and their uses in today’s society. The program is designed to provide a working knowledge of today’s productivity software, operating Systems, and an in-depth look at computer hardware.

Application programs from the Microsoft Office Suite are taught including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

One exciting component of this program is the focus that’s placed on the hands-on approach to the computer systems repair and upgrade course, where students are able to actively participate in repairing and upgrading a computer system.

This program is designed to introduce students to the basic elements of running a computer in a comfortable, structured manner using the constructivist approach to learning.

Upon completion of this program the student will be adequately prepared to sit the A+   International certification exams. They will be comfortable troubleshooting a range of computer issues and will be a rounded Information Technology asset in any organization.

Completion of this program can benefit the student in several ways:

  • The program will make the graduate more attractive to potential employers looking for entry-level resource people.
  • They will be better prepared to pursue more advanced training in the field of IT.
  • Completion of studies in the Information Technology Certificate Program will prepare students to write the certification exams offered in their fields of study.

Admission Requirements

Candidates are required to satisfactorily complete the CAAT Testing. There are no pre-requisites for entrance. It is recommended that students consider the following as guides to success:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with strong reading & comprehension skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills, previous computer courses are a definite asset.
  • It is VERY STRONGLY SUGGESTED that students have their own computer at home.
